Doing an oil change on my 2000 Toyota Camry, how many quarts of oil should I refill it with?
A: It should hold 4-1/2 quarts with a new filter, but put 4 in and check the oil level. If it's still low, put in another 1/2 quart and check it again, etc.
Q: Why is my 2000 Toyota Camry making a new noise in Front?
Last month I had my engine mount replaced on a 2000 Toyota Camry with 140,000 miles on it. About a week ago, it started making extra noise, coming from the front of the vehicle. It sounds like a quick vibration and it is loudest when accelerating. There are no dash panel lights on and I haven't noticed any change in fuel consumption. This is making my wife a little nervous. Should I be worried or is this something that happens around 140,000 miles?
A: On the Camry, i believe there are 3 motor mounts, did you replace all of them???
If the noise is that loud especially during acceleration then i believe the installation of the motor mount was done incorrectly. I heard alot of aftermarket parts are going bad, something about lower production cost

Q: Suggestions on issues with my 2000 toyota camry?
My toyota camry has been having some problems lately. The engine light is on and when accelerating it kind of lugs back. I've also noticed that when at stop lights etc the car starts to shake. I'm having it looked at on wed by my mechanic, but any suggestions on what it could be and price suggestions?
A: I have a 1999 Camry. These cars, including your 2000 model, were notorious for engines blowing because of sludge build up. This was a design defect by toyota on those years, which narrowed the engine exhaust port hole which leads to the muffler. It was narrowed in an experiment by them to see it the extra heat in the engine would improve gas combustion. It did not. What it did do was create sludge ( a thick oil like substance) inside the engine--because the exhaust can not escape the engine as fast as normal. For 8 years, Toyota denied the problem (yes even back then)--and blamed all the drivers for not not changing their oil enough...finally a massive class action law suit was filed against toyota, forcing them to admit the defect. They finally did admit it after being forced to..but told customers that they will only pay for a new engine if the car was under 8 years old...by the time Toyota agreed to pay for the damages--most of the cars were OVER 8 years old. You car could have this problem and sludge build up should be carefully checked on your 2000 Camry. Unfortunately, sludge can seldom be fully removed. And just one small piece of sludge breaking free in your engine while driving...will completely destroy the engine...in just minutes. Good luck. I have abandoned Toyota forever. Their history is one of deceit and lies.

anyhow, I am guessing you'll be paying around $295.00.However, custome paint is much more expensive and it is more work. $500.00-$1000.00

We recently purchased a replacement remote for our 2000 Toyota Camry but the programming instructions are not working. Is there a way to tell if the car is even equipped with keyless entry. Any suggestions welcome! *Note: Owners' manual discusses that the vehicle is equipped with keyless entry.
A: I am a dealer and replace alot of remotes. I have gotten bad instructions, but typically use programyourremote.com. If it still doesn't work, call your local toyota dealer, they can run the vin # and tell you if it was originally equipped. Being a 2000 it should if it has power equipment and alloys. Good luck! Also, make sure you have the correct remote, some manufacturers have multiple remotes for the same year model, some have different options, (trunk release etc.)

No I am not trying to steal a car god the dealership wanted a 100 bucks to program it I am not that rich!
A: Are you sure your keyless entry fob doesn't just need a new battery? You will need to carefully open up the fob to find out what size battery you need. Perhaps an auto parts store will be able to help you.
If the battery is okay, go the library and find the manual for car, make a copy, and try to fix it.
If all else fails, call Toyota customer service.

My 2000 Toyota Camry doors will not lock. The little beeping noise goes off when I turn the car off (like the key is still in the ignition). They are not, the lights are not on, and I can't think of what else it could be. Needless to say, I can't lock my car because of it.
A: sounds like your car does not identify that key had been removed from the ignition. I would try using some lube to the inside of the key hole. Connectors might be stuck

I just bought Brand new MTX 12's. But the with the system I have now my lights dem and those subs are garbage. So i know these are gonna blow sumthin up. I know I might need a new alternator but im gonna try a new cap first i just dont know which one would be the best???
A: A capacitor is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help. The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.
so therefor, a capacitor will only be a waste of money for you, considering it wont help you at all, considering light dimming isnt what they are used for
and before you do a new alternator upgrade, you should do the big three upgrade
also if your going to upgrade alternator, you should upgrade to an optima yellow top battery

I don't have the owner's manual... The symbol appears on the far left under the temperature gauge and looks like a car with 3 beams coming out of each taillight.
A: I think you better check all of your lights around the outside of your car...
I think it's a warning of a (burned out buld), turn signal, stop light, side marker light ...so on...

I am not sure how much to fill them up and don't want to damage them.
A: Check your manual or your door jamb for the recommended tire pressure for your car. The pressure listed on the sidewall of the tire is the max pressure for those tires.
Personally I like to go pretty close to the max pressure. It increases my gas mileage by about 10% but it does give a rougher ride.
The manufacturers recommendation is usually a lot lower pressure which gives a smoother ride but hurts gas mileage and wears the tires out faster.

p.s. A previous answer mentioned inflating tires when they're cold. Just so you know, tire manufacturers define "cold" as the car having not been driven for at least 3 hours.

A: That would be your rear tail light failure sensor letting you know one or more of the taillight bulbs has blown. Check your taillights and replace the bulb that is out. The light will go out on its own
