Q: Why does my 2004 Toyota Camry keeps giving Timing advance trouble code?
While on a trip some time back my 2004 Toyota Camry had a busted radiator which affected the top cylinder, the gasket was changed but the and since then I have check engine light on(I am not too sure of the technician's competence). The diagnostics came up with timing advanced and each time my technician adjusts it the engine becomes normal and light goes off but reverts after some time. why does it always revert? How do i solve this problem?

A: Have you had the head gasket re-tightened since the gasket was replaced some time back. That may be the problem it should be tightened after the car has done 1 or 2 thousand miles. But otherwise the distributor may not have been tightened enough working loose & now requires advancing again & re-tighten. I would have it checked out if you can't do it yourself.

Q: What is the towing capacity of a 2004 Toyota Camry Solara SLE V6?
Thinking about getting a boat and wanted to know if my car could tow it? Boat is about 2500 lbs (unsure about weight of trailer). The answer is probably no, but I can't seem to find it anywhere searching on the internet so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks in advance! What's the tongue weight?

A: I don't think pounds are relevant unless your going a long way...Its more an issue of your boats tounge weight. If you can pick it real easy you can probably pull it with a car..I have a 19ft Bayliner and it has a very heavy tounge weight and wouldn't be good behind a car...But we used to have a 18ft low profile boat that i could easily life the tounge on and would pull just fine behind a car...In other words if you boat is a beast, you need a truck...If its a light performance boat that sits light on the trailer a car can pull it. Distance plays a factor as well, but tounge weight of your boat is the true driving factor....If its to heavy it will mash your bumper to the ground...

Q: Is it fairly easy to change the low beam headlight for a 2004 Toyota Camry? If so, how?
I haven't looked under the hood yet, but was just curious if it was difficult. I've heard you don't need any tools and only need to reach behind the casing and select the correct light to change and then properly remove it. Is this the case? Thanks!

A: On most newer cars the head lights are just bulbs that you replace by removing them from the back of the headlight unit. You will turn the socket (usually counterclockwise) and then pull it out. Then just replace the bulb and put it back in. If you can not get to the back of the headlight housing, you will need to release the housing for access.

I wannna get a good car alarm system for my 2004 Toyota Camry. I'm not interested in the Remote starter alarm system. Any suggestions. Thanks.

A: For the Best. you must got with a LO_Jack alarm. or may Viper alarms. but Lo_Jack can pinpoint where you car is if it is that its stolen..... dont buy the cheepo ones. youll come to find your car sittin on bricks or worst STOLEN!. its better to always invest on the top shelf items for these situations,.!

Q: How many drums and rotors in 2004 toyota camry?
I dunno how many per wheel. I don't even know what they are. Is it 4 drums and 4 rotors? is that even possible? Please help me

A: if you have disc brakes on all 4 wheels you will have 4 rotors, if you have disc brakes on the front only you will have 2 rotors and on the back wheels you will have drum brakes so you will have 2 brake drums on the back, it all depends on what braking system you have.

Q: How do you heat side mirrors in 2004 Toyota Camry XLE?
I just recently bought a used 04 Camry XLE and according to the cars.com the car has "stnadard" heated side mirrors. I looked all over the car for a button that would do it but I cannot find it. Does anyone know how to get the side mirrors heated in that camry??

A: They are hooked up to the rear defrost. Just one switch.

Q: Black plastic engine cover torn off on 2004 Toyota Camry?
The black plastic engine cover underneath the car was ripped off due to rough driving. Part of it now hangs. It was scraping against the ground as I drove but I propped it up so that it hangs about a few inches from the ground. How necessary is this to replace/fix or should I just tear it off/duct tape it back? I found the bolt that held it in place, and it seems like it broke. Thanks.

A: you can get a replacement from dealership,or salvage yard these plastic shields keep road debris from getting caught in drive belts or moving components in your engine compartment protects wiring, lines,or hoses too.

Q: Engine light on in my 2004 Toyota Camry?
After hitting a huge bump in a parking lot, my engine light went on. My car was then diagnosed at Auto Zone (they do free diagnostics) and said it could be one of these 3 things: Faulty thermostat, low coolant level and faulty ECT. What does all of this mean and how much am I looking at for repairs? The code is P0128. And any help is appreciated. I just want to understand what I'm asking for. Thanks!

A: Did you check your coolant level? You may have damaged your radiator or a hose. If it was coincidence, the thermostat is cheap and easy enough to replace. ADDITIONAL DETAILS >>> P0128 is Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature) This means that the engine's PCM detected that the engine has not reached the required temperature level within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. The intent of the P0128 code is to indicate a faulty thermostat. Possible Causes >>> Low engine coolant level Leaking or stuck open thermostat Faulty cooling fan (running too much) Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor Past experience indicates that the most likely solution is to replace the thermostat. However here are some suggestions on troubleshooting and repairing a P0128 OBD-II code >>> Verify coolant strength & level Verify proper cooling fan operation (check if it's running more than it should). Replace if necessary. Verify proper engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor operation, replace if necessary. Verify proper intake air temperature (IAT) sensor operation, replace if necessary. If the above items check out good, replace the thermostat

Lets say i am an average driver and car has average maintenance and everything else is average, how many years or miles can i expect this car to last?

Q: If I leave my 2004 Toyota Camry sit for 8 weeks will anything happen?

Q: 2004 Toyota Camry or 1992 Ford Taurus SHO?
Okay, I'm almost 16 and have 2 options for my first car (I consider that to be pretty fortunate). I can either get a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO from my father. It is in pretty nice condition. Or, I could get a 2004 Toyota Camry, also in very nice condition. I would put about $7,000 worth of work in either one, just to make it unique. I am a kind of person who likes fast cars or at least fast looking ones. Thanks, Frank328

A: Camry will never be fast but is much better and you can get body kit and 18" enkei's stock from dealer. I have a red 2004 camry LE with body kit and 18" enkei's with Pirelli's that were demos for Toyotas executive office in SE. It is a 4 but gets stares everywhere and the 4 after 03' has enough power to go 0-60 in 6.8 and go 134 MPH and feel like you are going 70 with 4 cylinder. There engineering is unsurpassed. Drive a Chyrsler 300 6 cylinder and see how much sway and hard driving it is compared to a 154 HP car and is faster then 6 which has 245 H Taurus with a 200 Hop six is the worst cars ever made as it came out that when they did not seel Ford used OEM or generic parts to build then. They last 40,000 miles then problems begin. Ask any owner.
